As in fragrance, tea has its top, middle, and base notes like perfume, expressing a terroir, a landscape, and sensations.” Crystal glass manufacturer Saint-Louis has joined hands with Lydia for its latest Apollo collection, a precious nine-object crystal and porcelain tea range. “Th e idea of tasting tea in a fl ower-shaped crystal glass instantly drew me to the project,” explains Lydia. Preserving the nobility of the crystal, the mouthblown and hand-cut pieces combine Venetian ribs and cut patterns with porcelain. “Drinking tea in transparent glass is already present in many tea rituals. Drinking tea in crystal magnifi es its refl ections and colour variations,” continues Lydia. “Th e magic of the two materials operates thus; the tea brews discreetly in its porcelain pot while the water vapour is deposited over the infusion and pearls over the crystal lid.” Th e range includes a ‘Great’ tea set for a generous tasting, a ‘Charming’ tea set for the brew of exceptional teas, and an espresso tumbler. “Porcelain and crystal accessories complete both rituals, inviting everyone to compose their own set, and crystal and tea pairing.” saint-louis.com The LATEST “ A S I N F R A G R A N C E , T E A H A S I T S T O P , M I D D L E , A N D B A S E N O T E S” Ly d i a G a u t i e r 33 HarpersBazaarArabia.com/Culture/Interiors Winter 2023 HBI_059_32-33_LATEST_Apollo_13070722.indd 3305/12/2023 10:4234 HarpersBazaarArabia.com/Culture/Interiors Winter 2023 COS Y CO N T O U R S Al fresco gatherings just got cooler with Al Huzaifa Furniture’s latest outdoor collection, an homage to raw nature The Diva outdoor rope dining chairs bring a gorgeous splash of colour to the space HBI_059_34-35_LATEST_ Huzaifa_13099963.indd 3405/12/2023 10:42 The LATEST 35 HarpersBazaarArabia.com/Culture/Interiors Winter 2023 It’s that time of year again, when we enjoy gathering for festivities and occasions, many times outdoors under the open skies. Guided by her early experiences and impressions of colours and architectural spaces, the masterpiece recalls childhood interactions with a dollhouse that prompted a love for pioneers of modern architecture – the likes of Behrens, Le Corbusier, and Gropius. “But what about the women?”, she questioned. A growing curiosity of female infl uences inspired this poetic project; a creation of 14 individual rooms, each dedicated to a female leading light whose work continues to challenge the boundaries of architecture, design and art. For me, a story about colour can only truly be told from a three-dimensional vantage point. My imaginary architect’s world began when I was a child, while playing with a doll’s house. In my head, I reconstructed its space and architectural features, chose its colours and furniture, and imagined the people living in the house and their stories. In my designs, whether they are of spaces or products, surfaces always play a leading role, highlighting the materials they are composed of. In interior design projects, I always use natural hues that whisper colour combinations with various application methods.
