We follow the London-based designer around the clock The ever-graceful interior designer, Sophie Paterson HBI_059_26-27_24 hours_13060038.indd 2605/12/2023 09:57 24 HOURS 6:00AM I wake up with either my son Oscar or Ava, requesting an immediate snack and crawling into our bed for a cuddle. Th e best alarm clock there is. 6:10AM I start every day with decaf black coff ee with MCT coff ee creamer by Will Powders. Th at gives me an instant energy boost and keeps me going through the morning chaos of making banana pancakes for the kids, and getting them ready for school. 8:00AM I exercise every weekday without fail; I love Pilates and visit a local studio two to three times a week, and I see a personal trainer with my husband two times a week for weight training. On the weekend I’ll do 20 minutes on the peloton. 9:10AM My go-to breakfast is a green smoothie with half an avocado, a sprinkle of blueberries or raspberries, some whey protein, Rheal supplements, collagen powder, and a large chunk of freshly grated ginger. I normally drink my smoothie in my dressing room as I choose what to wear that day. I’m currently loving Celine bags – I just bought another two from Harrods – the small Bucket Triomphe in smooth tan leather and the Classique Triomphe bag in natural textile and tan leather. 10:00AM I head to the studio for a morning meeting with my team where we discuss updates on all our projects. At any one time we have eight to ten large projects around the world, so we have to keep a close eye on schedules – organisation is 99 per cent of this job. We’ve just completed two projects in the Gulf and it’s so exciting and satisfying to see the culmination of years of work come to fruition. Th e majlis in our Oman project was such a special interior to see come to life; it’s the fi rst majlis we have designed. 11:30AM I personally run all of our social-media accounts and I like to be spontaneous so I might share a couple of stories from behind the scenes. We just launched an extensive range of luxurious accessories, from trays to frames and even waste paper bins with Addison Ross. 12:00PM I will sit with the interior-architecture team to review the layouts for a new project. Th is week we presented the hard fi nishes and joinery for a new apartment project in London. It has a very British heritage vibe for an Emirati client. 1:30PM My husband works from home most days so I’ll often try to meet up with him and we will share a salad and some grilled chicken, or I might meet my sister Alex who lives close by. I have fi ve sisters and we’re all very close. 2:30PM My favourite part of the design process is scheming the fabrics; I could get lost in this phase for days. I’m very hands-on with all our projects and love working collaboratively with my design team of 15 talented creatives. 4.30PM I’ll spend about 90 minutes trying to clear my inbox, respond to comments on our social-media channels, liaise with my team regarding prospective projects and enquiries. 6:00PM I head home and try to eat dinner as early as possible, ideally with the children. Th en my husband and I bathe the children and put them to bed. My favourite part of the day is getting in their bed to read them a book. 8:00PM I love doing some self-care. I like to double cleanse with Sarah Chapman’s Ultimate Cleanse and then the Rapid Radiance Cleanse before using a red-light mask – it helps me relax as I can’t read emails while wearing it! I like to listen to a podcast for 20 minutes while it’s on. By 10:30PM I’m asleep. We just got a new bed from Vispring called the Tiara Superb and it’s like sleeping on a cloud. Before pivoting its attention to interiors, SANAYI313 began as a fashion accessories brand founded by Creative Director and Lead Designer, Enis Karavil, who brought the name to worldwide renown by dressing celebrities such as Gigi Hadid. Today, SANAYI313 lends itself to a multitude of interior projects, collaborating with independent fashion brands like Melis Goral, SIEDRÉS, and Anim, and has worked on several projects for Raisa Vanessa, including its pop-up store in Bodrum. Enis has used his sartorial skills to carefully renovate the historical setting. “Constructed in 1875 and complete with a heritage façade, Akaretler Row Houses is an icon of 19th-century architecture in Istanbul,” says Enis. “As with all old buildings with soul and memory, it was important to read the place and its history, to fi nd out how we can work with it.” Echoing the maximalist and dynamic spirit of the brand, the refi ned space boasts a bold, bespoke style that merges fashion and design. “Th e interiors mix contemporary design to complement and contrast splendours from the past – an eclectic curation of furniture and lighting that feel as if they have always been there,” Enis explains. “Th is project showcases a careful balance between preserving the core of the historic building, conveying the essence of the Raisa Vanessa brand, as well as creating a compelling experience for the showroom’s visitors.” Off ering a truly immersive shopping experience, the three- fl oor unit decked in unique, distinct Murano glass chandeliers and antique Louis XV vanity chairs provides a remarkable backdrop to the statement fashion pieces. Enis continues, “For a project to be successful, it’s important to share ideas with your client. You need to understand them well and really take into consideration their wishes and needs. Initially, you spend a lot of time in dialogue with your client. Having known Raisa and Vanessa on a personal level for many years, we were able to skip that part. We already had our common ground and didn’t need to share so many details.” sanayi313.com “ I T W A S I M PO RT A N T T O R E A D T H E P L A C E A N D I T S H I S T O R Y ” En i s K a r a v i l HBI_059_28-29_Raisa Vanessa_13102272.indd 2905/12/2023 10:39Next >
