Here, we gather the trends of the season that invite endless joie de vivre into the home. ARTFUL OBJECTS Functionality gives way to fun as objects that oscillate between art and design command attention. Clear your shelving of clutter and transform it into a gallery space. Adapt the look and feel of open shelves depending on your mood. Incorporate objets d’art and treasured collectables that spark a smile, or exhibit family heirlooms that permeate the room with old-soul energy. Explore artist-designer collaborations for conversation- starting ceramic and textile works, and scour art fairs for fresh pieces by emerging names. Experiment with proportions and surrender to luxury. Place an oversized club chair that pays homage to surrealism in the living room, or introduce a vintage drinks trolley that celebrates the golden age of hospitality. CURVACEOUS OUTLINES Clean, geometric lines establish a sense of order in the interior space, yet round, organic forms resonate with the patterns found in the outdoor world, summoning a sense of serenity. Incorporate this trend into your furnishings through plump upholstery and curved couches in unexpected colours. Look to artful accessories such as lamps with bulbous stems and undulating, mouth-blown ornaments. Voluptuous silhouettes create rhythm and harmony in the home; let the theme fl ow outside and embrace the season of open-air entertainment. MODERN GLASS While once steeped in tradition, glass has experienced a revival as artisans have pushed the boundaries of the medium in refreshing and dynamic ways. It’s a material capable of eff ortlessly infusing colour and movement into the living space. From architectural light pendants to sculptural vessels, glass can be both subtle and fanciful. Evoke a sense of nostalgia through your lighting choices; molten glass orbs in mustard or burnt orange off er a distinctly 1970s aesthetic. Subtly summon the trend with jewel-toned candlestick holders or textured tumblers. Revisit the origins and embrace opulent tradition in a contemporary context through elevating an otherwise neutral environment, with an eye-catching statement Murano chandelier. ORANGE OPTIMISM A resurgence of retro aesthetics, signalled by the popularity of curved lines and coloured glass, is palpable this winter. Th is trend is further evidenced in the prevalence of orange tones in the interior space. From apricot to rust, shades of orange embody both optimism and sophistication, making them the ideal mood-altering backdrop of the season. Coat your walls in a sensual shade of marmalade to make a solid colour statement. For a subtler approach, play with fresh accents in your abode – a lampshade, table cloth or decorative tray will suffi ce. Consider standout pieces like a vintage lacquered cabinet in a daring shade of vermillion, or elevate your table-top with striking champagne fl utes in burnt amber. Shades of orange complement the earthy tones of the season. Establish a captivating tension between natural materials like stone and wood, and fl ashes of sumptuous satsuma fabric on soft furnishings.
