All available at Casamia 43 HarpersBazaarArabia.com/Culture/Interiors Autumn 2020 Characterised by an effortless blend between design and function, the Casamia showroom in Dubai spans designer furnishings and fi t-outs curated together as inspiration for the home. Soul by Ernestomeda, a brand-new kitchen series exclusive to the brand, has been designed to transcend the traditional culinary experience, catering to lifestyle needs and cooking styles, the chef and the layman, alike. The Laminam slabs, also available exclusively at Casamia, are a beautiful addition to the kitchen countertops, renowned for their durable qualities and ideal for the burns and spills we all experience from time to time (or very often!). Kitchen countertops are at the heart of a culinary workspace, functioning as a kneading counter, chopping board and even a place to rest sizzling pots on. At Casamia, the philosophy is that countertops have to be just as beautiful in form as durable in function, making Laminam a preferred countertop placement. Similarly, the right lights are of equal importance. For lighting, Casamia is home to the Noctambule Suspension Lights by Flos, comprising a chic design and LED technology, perfect for a ‘less is more’ aesthetic. Providing the ideal lighting for the cooking process and for the exciting culinary photoshoot after, kitchen lights do more than just illuminate: they spark an aura, one that brings to light more than just the food. It is a story and a mood that unravels beautifully in harmony. Also a fashionable choice is the Italian Manta Stool by Rugiano, in upholstered navy blue smooth leather, ideal for when you’re hosting friends and family. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and Casamia brims with design ideas applicable to an array of styles and tastes. The brand understands there is more to the kitchen and it is more than just another room. It is the mother’s place of care, the child’s playground and a chef ’s centre of creativity. True to its roots, Casamia highlights that kitchens don’t just need to be built, rather, they must be designed around you. Founded by Abdul Kadar Mithani in 2004, the brand’s ethos is rooted in curating bespoke spaces fi t for the user, rather than the user having to adjust to the design. Casamia’s fl agship store is home to aptly-themed showrooms, set to inspire creative spaces suitable for all. ■ casamiauae.com HBI_047_42-43_TRENDS_Cassamia_11385676.indd 4304/10/2020 06:15:21 PM44 HarpersBazaarArabia.com/Culture/Interiors Autumn 2020 CREDIT HERE Situated among majestic acres of combed lawns and forest, the 15th century Luttrellstown Castle Resort in Ireland recently received an elegant makeover by Ventura Design Studio FOCUSDesign Me d i e v a l ENCHANTMENT Words by ATHWIFA SALEEM HBI_047_44-45_DESIGN FOCUS_Luttrellstown_11373773.indd 4404/10/2020 06:16:20 PM DESIGN FOCUS 45 HarpersBazaarArabia.com/Culture/Interiors Autumn 2020 IMAGES COUR TESY OF VENTURA DESIGN AND LUTTRELLSTOWN CASTLE RESOR T Over the last few years, Luttrellstown Castle has undergone refurbishments by interior designer and founder of Ireland-based Ventura Design, Arlene McIntyre, with scrupulous attention to detail to maintain the castle’s cherished primeval glory. The present castle-turned-resort is a late 18th century reconstruction in Gothic-style, with robust elements of Tudor revival. The result is a celebrated amalgamation of contemporary luxe, primeval features and antiques. The interior of the castle is largely the work of painters, plasterers, artists and decorators of the early- to-mid 20th century, with some gems dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries and each room honing a story of centuries before. In continuation of its commitment to design excellence, modish interiors and luxe experiences, Luttrellstown Castle Resort, in collaboration with Ventura Design, has added eight bespoke bedrooms to the current 12-bedroom exclusive-hire venue, offering intimate luxury and hospitality combined with opulence of the 15th century medieval era. The installation comprises a felted armchair inspired by the female body, a hand-knitted giant Strikha lamp, an organic, rounded dining table called Ztista, made using dough and hand-sculpted on a metal frame and terracotta chairs named Toptun. These are further complemented by two paintings by budding Ukrainian artist Ihor Tverdokhlib. “Our inspiration is always nature, traditions and preserving the roots of a space,” says Yakusha. “We wanted to create an ambience where contemporary minimalist design would uncover the hidden life of the abandoned house.
