So when a big name like London’s Sexy Fish opens its doors to serve up some of its well-known Japanese food, you can expect it to be busy and bangin’. The OG venue opened in London in 2015 and calls London’s Berkeley Square home. Executive chef Bjoern Weissgerber leads the charge in the kitchen and has created a menu that fuses Asian and European influences. The Dubai newbie is located at DIFC’s Innovation One Building (its a neighbour to Duck & Waffle) on the 11th floor, so you’ll be getting your sushi with a side of stunning DIFC views. Sexy Fish is also known for its nightly mermaid-themed entertainment. So expect DJs and plenty of bubbly in its new Dubai hot spot. SAKHALIN Created by renowned Russian chef Vladimir Mukhin (of White Rabbit fame and here in Dubai, AI-immersive venue Krasota), the beachfront spot Sakhalin is inspired by Sakhalin Island (Russia’s biggest island). Here, you can expect a menu that features Russian, Mediterranean and Asian blends. Sounds complicated, but it works. Located at J1 Beach, Sakhalin has views of the Arabian Gulf, a gorgeous terrace and a stunning centrepiece fountain under an illuminated roof installation made from shimmering light. The menu focuses mostly on seafood and features creative dishes made with top-notch ingredients. Definitely one not to miss. SIENA The Dubai Marina dining scene just got a fresh new opening with the launch of Siena, a new Italian spot tucked away in the swanky Grosvenor House Dubai Marina. It has all the Italian hallmarks you’d expect… wholesome comfort food, cute interiors and staff that’ll make you feel like you’ve just walked into your very own family reunion. The menu dives into classic Italian comfort food. Think dishes like gamberi rossi siciliani, slow-cooked wagyu beef cheek and homemade tagliolino with clams, seaweed and lemon zest. What we know so far: Okay, technically not a single restaurant… more like 12. That means Dubai is getting a whole street of licensed restaurants and bars and it’s going to be called 25 Jump Street. Located in the heart of the Central Business District, just behind the 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central, this new destination promises to become the spot for residents and visitors looking to eat and drink in style. Cuisine: Italian-American. What we know so far: The iconic (and sort of infamous) New York Italian restaurant is coming to Dubai this year. First opening more than a decade ago in Manhattan, the restaurant serves up classic dishes such as veal Parmesan to the linguine vongole. Picking up an impressive reputation in the US with celebs and the public alike since its initial launch, CARBONE has hosted everyone from Rihanna to Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Drake over the years. Although an official opening date has not been set for the restaurant, it is expected to open its doors in early 2025. O @carbonedxb. ZUMA BEACHHOUSE Where: La Mer Beach. Cuisine: Japanese. What we know so far: Zuma Dubai Beachhouse will be located at La Mer, adjacent to the upcoming Gran Melia Dubai hotel and will overlook the Port de La Mer marina. The space promises to feature a sleek pool with day beds and a resident DJ on the decks. There will also be a bar overlooking the sea as well as a private beach. Set in a modern Scandinavian-inspired space, the menu combines relaxed à la carte options with Frantzén’s cooking style, including dishes like côte de boeuf, rock lobster and more. The restaurant features cosy booths, a private dining room and an open kitchen. The 40- seat bar serves Nordic mixed drinks, and the extensive grape cellar offers more than 1,300 labels. Since 2004, the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Project has released over 1,600 rehabilitated turtles back into their natural habitat. Established by Dubai Wildlife Protection Office, the sanctuary takes in poorly and injured turtles and nurtures them back to health in the sea-fed lagoon at Jumeirah Al Naseem, before releasing them back into the wild.Why not break your dinner date rule and stop into Il Borro for a romantic meal while you’re there?
