< PreviousDEVELON: A NEW CHAPTER FOR HD HYUNDAI INFRACORE'S CONSTRUCTION MACHINERY I n an exciting development, HD Hyundai Infracore has made a signifi cant change to its brand identity. Stepping away from the DOOSAN name, HD Hyundai Infracore has unveiled a dynamic new name: DEVELON. This rebranding initiative comes as a result of HD Hyundai Infracore's transformation into a subsidiary of HD Hyundai in August 2021, marking a new era for the company. HD Hyundai Infracore introduced the new brand to a global audience on 18 January 2023. In February, an online presentation of the brand took place through social media, and in March, the new branded equipment with DEVELON stickers were showcased at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG exhibition in Las Vegas. WHAT IS DEVELON? DEVELON is a combination of the words 'Develop' and 'Onwards.' With the launch of the new brand, the company aims to propel itself to the forefront of the construction equipment and machinery industry. This strategic move also represents a signifi cant step forward in its ambition to become a prominent global player with respect to its electrifi cation and automation ambitions. "The three lines of the HD Hyundai conglomerate's construction machinery business (HD Hyundai Infracore, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and HD Hyundai Xite Solutions) have already strengthened their status as key components of the business and laid a solid foundation for achieving targets. They also support each other in the rapidly changing global economic environment," said Youngcheul Cho, CEO of HD Hyundai Infracore. "In the future, DEVELON will become a market leader in electrifi cation and automation to drive growth and become a brand that is highly trusted among our customers." DEVELON equipment has been shipped to the Middle East since April, and distributors began receiving the all-new branded equipment at the end of May 2023. DEVELON is anticipated to become the driving force behind HD Hyundai Infracore's electrification and automation ambitions REBRANDING 30 | AUGUST 2023plantmachineryvehicles.comPlant / Machinery / VehiclesEXCLUSIVE TRANSPARENT BUCKET TECHNOLOGY The exclusive transparent bucket technology is an innovative construction equipment technology that helps minimise blind spots for wheel loader operators when the bucket is raised. “The transparent bucket technology offers a supplemental view from a monitor inside the wheel loader cab,” Zak said. He said, the system has two cameras with protective guarding, the fi rst is mounted high on the cab and the second is mounted low on the axle on the front of the machine. The processor adjusts the camera inputs into a single image that makes the bucket appear transparent on an in-cab monitor. With an unobstructed view in front of the wheel loader bucket, operators can see objects such as large rocks, construction materials, obstacles, and even people in front of the machine-objects that would otherwise be obstructed from view by the bucket. Since operators can ‘see through’ the wheel loader D EVELON is introducing new technologies on its next-generation 7-Series wheel loaders in the North American market. According to the company, these technologies, which were fi rst showcased during the CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023 exhibition, help improve productivity, visibility, and safety. Develon explained that new technologies, including the transparent bucket, around view monitor (AVM) camera system, and object detection, are offered as standard on all next- generation machines from the DL200-7 through the DL580-7, and they help operators get the job done in the most challenging conditions today and in the future. “DEVELON is the only construction equipment manufacturer in the industry with the transparent bucket technology,” Bill Zak, Wheel Loader Product Manager at Develon, said. He added, “When it is paired with the AVM, our 2023 -7 Series wheel loaders will help operators and owners be more productive while increasing their visibility and safety.” DEVELON INTRODUCES NEW TECH FOR 7- SERIES WHEEL LOADERS Transparent bucket technology off ers a supplemental view from a monitor inside the cab CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT 32 | AUGUST 2023plantmachineryvehicles.comPlant / Machinery / Vehiclesbucket, it helps them effi ciently dig into and precisely place material where it needs to go. This technology helps maximise productivity on the most challenging jobsites. According to a report published in March 2023 by the Center for Construction Research and Training, 17% of fatal injuries in construction from 2011 to 2021 were ‘struck by’ fatalities. This type of fatality is defi ned as an ‘injury in which a person is struck by a vehicle, object, or equipment.’ New technology from DEVELON can potentially help reduce these fatalities with increased operator visibility to the jobsite. AROUND VIEW MONITOR CAMERA SYSTEM For additional visibility and safety on jobsites, DEVELON 7-Series wheel loaders have an AVM camera system. Three cameras and several sensors are mounted on the rear of the wheel loader, giving operators up to 270 degrees of enhanced visibility. “If there’s an object eight to 12 feet behind the machine, a fl ashing green caution box will appear, notifying the wheel loader operator,” said Zak. He explained, “A yellow caution box will show up if the object is four to eight feet away and a red triangle and red border notifi cation if the object is closer than four feet.” When wheel loader operators combine the AVM camera system, fl oor-to-ceiling side cab windows, and transparent bucket technology, they have nearly 360 degrees of visibility. This level of visibility can help reduce the possibility of the operator hitting another object on a busy jobsite. OTHER SMART TECHNOLOGIES The 7-Series wheel loaders are designed with other smart technology features that owners and operators can use to make meaningful improvements to the productivity of their operations. The DEVELON fl eet management telematics system makes it easy for owners to monitor their fl eet and manage maintenance to reduce operating costs. Using a smartphone, tablet, or computer, owners can check machine location, operating hours, fuel usage, engine idle versus work time, error codes, engine and hydraulic oil temperature, and various other data points. Situation Awareness Technology (SAT) automatically monitors the machine’s activity and adjusts the wheel loader engine’s output to match the real-time requirements of the hydraulic system and drivetrain. According to the company, a smart guidance system analyses operator’s driving habits and provides tips during operation. The load isolation system (LIS) improves wheel loader stability while moving, and it can reduce cycle times, increase productivity, and boost fuel effi ciency. The smart load weighing system also tells the operator about the weight of the material in the bucket. All menus and settings are integrated into the smart touch screen. Besides smart technologies, the 7-Series will have cabs equipped with comfort features, increased bucket capacities, and new fuel-saving technologies, the company said.
