The F-Max family, which now includes two new variants – the F-Max Blackline and F-Max L, including new specifi cations and features, is bringing connected mobility technologies to Ford Trucks customers. The company is introducing remote-control features with its ConnecTruck technology, off ering more convenience and greater effi ciency. The F-Max Blackline, an exclusive variant of the international award-winning F-Max, will be produced as a limited edition. Each vehicle will feature a special serial number and the Blackline Series emblem on its door. Only 250 units will be produced for this limited edition, which will be available in a special ‘moondust’ silver exterior colour, with blue and black stripes that accentuate the vehicle’s style, as well as black LED headlamps, black wheels, and black mirror caps. The F-Max Blackline features a high-end interior design, with seats trimmed in black with blue stripes and stitch details, in addition to blue highlights and stitch details on the leather steering wheel and spacious overhead storage areas. The F-Max Blackline's front console as well as bed and under-bed storage areas also feature distinctive black design details. Ford Trucks is transforming its vehicles into data-driven, connected mobility products, equipped with next-generation technologies that benefi t customers. The new technologies include features such as GPS-based cruise control and multimedia system that make life easier for drivers and fl eet managers. The new remote-control features also enable users of the My Ford Trucks app to control their vehicles remotely, giving drivers an even higher level of comfort. The online portal ConnecTruckGlobal.com has been expanded to include new features, especially for fl eets. It allows fl eet managers to track their vehicles on a desktop computer or tablet, with bonus features in addition to the mobile app. The new features give drivers and fl eet managers access to historical vehicle data and route information, all within a few clicks. The F-Max L’s 1350-litre fuel tank is 300 litres larger than the standard F-Max tank, off ering signifi cant transportation advantages in combination with the truck’s expanded 3750 mm wheelbase. Customers can also choose a 1050-litre tank option by selecting a longer wheelbase. As fuel consumption and total cost of ownership are the most important criteria in the heavy commercial vehicle sector, Ford Trucks introduced 'Eco+ Mode', allowing drivers to increase fuel effi ciency by up to 5%. Starting in 2021, Eco+ Mode will be a standard feature in all F-Max variants. When Eco+ Mode is activated, the system takes actions to automatically reduce fuel consumption. The Max Cruise feature sets the most effi cient vehicle speed based on road conditions and topography identifi ed using GPS data. Eco Roll is also activated, allowing for optimal acceleration when driving downhill, so that the truck covers the maximum distance with minimum fuel consumption. When Eco+ Mode is switched on, engine power is limited to 450 PS and vehicle speed to 85 kilometres per hour. If the vehicle idles for longer than fi ve minutes, the engine automatically shuts off to save fuel. This is especially benefi cial if the vehicle is left running while waiting at customs or loading. Finally, the high-performance kickdown feature is deactivated in Eco+ Mode to conserve fuel. Fleet owners can control and monitor all these features remotely using the My Ford Trucks mobile app. The F-Max L. The two companies entered into a joint venture in 2015 to off er cranes for hire along with operators. Currently, their JV rental fl eet includes 7 crawler cranes with capacities ranging from 50t to 250t. Salim Equipment Rental already has its own fl eet of crawler cranes which it runs independently The handover ceremony arranged by Salim Equipment Rental for two new Liebherr HS895 HD cranes in February 2021 was inaugurated by Sekiguchi Noboru, Consul General of Japan in Dubai, and attended by several dignitaries, senior offi cials and representatives from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Dubai, Japan Bank (DIFC), Daikyo Kenki, Liebherr Middle East and Liebherr Austria. from this JV. Also, Salim Equipment Rental are the authorized dealers of KATO crawler cranes from 50 - 250 ton capacity for the UAE region. In 2019, Salim Equipment Rental decided to enter the niche market of duty cycle operation and dynamic compaction, a technique used to increase soil density by dropping a heavy weight repeatedly from diff erent heights on the ground. As such projects required duty cycle cranes, Salim Equipment Rental opted for Liebherr and invested in two new HS8130.1 (130ton) cranes in February 2020. Currently, the two HS8130.1 (130 ton) models are working on the National Infrastructure project in UAE. The immediate success in the dynamic compaction market due to high utilisation of the cranes during 2020 encouraged Salim Equipment Rental to place its second order in November 2020 for another two duty cycle cranes with higher lifting capacities. The two new Liebherr HS895 HD (200 ton) models were delivered to Salim Equipment Rental in February 14 PLANT / MACHINERY / VEHICLESwww.plantmachineryvehicles.comMARCH 2021 CRANES (ADVERTORIAL)“Some ground improvement and land reclamation projects require specialised, duty cycle cranes to do Dynamic Compaction and Dynamic Replacement. With Liebherr duty cycle cranes, we can improve the density and bearing capacity of the soil up to depths of 15m by these techniques, and the cranes can handle a high number of blows, typically 600 blows in a 10-hour shift . Only a few manufacturers make such cranes, and Liebherr was our fi rst choice because the company has set the industry benchmark with regard to product development and customer support. ” Sajil Salim, President and CEO, Salim Equipment Rental The two Liebherr HS895 HD (200 ton) duty cycle cranes at the Salim Equipment Rental yard in Dubai. 2021 at a handover ceremony inaugurated by Sekiguchi Noboru, Consul General of Japan in Dubai. The handover function held and organized at the premises of Salim Equipment Rental in Dubai was also attended by several dignitaries, senior offi cials and representatives from the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in Dubai, Japan Bank (DIFC), Daikyo Kenki, Liebherr Middle East and Liebherr Austria. Kurt Rudigier, area sales manager, crawler cranes and foundation equipment, Liebherr- Werk Nenzing, says: “Duty cycle crawler cranes are among Liebherr’s best-selling equipment in the Middle East, and we’ve sold over 200 such cranes in this region. This deal is special because Salim Equipment Rental placed the order for their fi rst two duty-cycle cranes last year during one of the most challenging market conditions in recent years, when business owners were dealing with uncertainty. Despite the circumstances, Salim Equipment Rental went ahead with the deal, and we delivered the machines in August 2020. Following the second order, Liebherr manufactured the cranes in Austria and delivered them within three months. We celebrate this success story during the pandemic and the valuable partner we found in Salim Equipment Rental.” Sajil adds: “Our investments in four duty cycle cranes in less than a year is a major step for us and an unusual move in our industry because they happened at the peak of the pandemic. Fortunately, the dynamic compaction market was resilient during the last year, and we expect our four duty cycle cranes to be busy on soil improvement sites and duty cycle jobs throughout 2021. We see opportunity for signifi cant growth in the next few years from ground improvement and duty cycle jobs related to infrastructure projects in the MENA region. Dynamic compaction is a ‘high demand - high risk’ market that requires the full dedication of our resources including a team of highly skilled operators, maintenance staff and Liebherr’s after-sales support. As there are few players with the technical competency required for such jobs, we also have the opportunity to expand globally.” 15 PLANT / MACHINERY / VEHICLESwww.plantmachineryvehicles.comMARCH 2021 CRANES (ADVERTORIAL)S alim Equipment Rental (previously a part of AAA Rentals) was launched as a trading company in 1980 by the parents of Sajil Salim, Col. Salim Ahmed Nasir (Retd.) and Mrs. Nahid Salim, where they dedicated themselves with exceptional service to exceed client expectations in supplying more than 1000 units of pre-owned Tadano and Kato cranes in the MENA Region. The company then expanded into the rental market in 2006 with a fl eet of lift cranes supplied and serviced from its offi ce, workshop and yard in Dubai. Daikyo, established in 1965, is among the top fi ve heavy equipment rental companies in Japan with a fl eet of 120 machines including cranes and trucks. Two decades ago, Daikyo diversifi ed into real estate, which has become a growth area for the company. However, crane rental remains Daikyo’s primary business activity which it drives with a fl eet of 13–700t machines and over 100 operators. Sajil Salim explains how the business relationship with Daikyo Kenki evolved over the years culminating in their joint venture. “Salim Equipment Rental is built on the four principles of quality, commitment, integrity and professionalism. At our core, we are a Japanese company with similar work ethic as that of Daikyo Kenki. It’s interesting how we entered into a formal partnership after several years of business dealings. In the 1980s, my parents were among the top shippers of American cranes from UAE to America. In the 1990’s, my father was instrumental in introducing and driving the demand for Japanese crane brands in the Middle East, which had been dominated by American brands. The joint venture was a natural progression for both Salim Equipment Rental and Daikyo Kenki, but it happened only after a decade-long process of winning each other’s trust in 2015, a characteristic highly valued by Japanese companies.” Ryuichi Uchida, President and CEO, Daikyo Kenki, adds: “Having established ourselves in the crane rental business in Japan, we had aspirations to expand globally. In 2005, I began exploring opportunities in the Middle East to establish a trading business, which led A PARTNERSHIP BUILT ON TRUST Ryuichi Uchida, President and CEO, Daikyo Kenki; Sekiguchi Noboru, Consul General of Japan in Dubai; and Sajil Salim, President and CEO, Salim Equipment Rental. to my UAE visit and introduction to Sajil and his father. I was very impressed with their commitment to the crane industry and understanding of the local market that I entered into a trading partnership with them in 2005. Within ten years, our successful business relationship evolved into our crane rental joint venture.” Operating in both the ownership and rental markets has helped Daikyo Kenki create a sustainable fl eet replacement system and improve inventory management. “Since the 1990s, we have also been active in crane sales in local and international markets, and so far, we have sold more than 1,000 cranes around the world. By off ering cranes for sale and hire, we are able to fi nd markets for our used cranes while being able to upgrade our fl eet with new machines. Expanding our rental inventory in the UAE gives us the confi dence to enter new markets in the Middle East and Africa. Furthermore, as we expand our international presence through partnerships and subsidiary offi ces in India and Indonesia, we will have more fl exibility in managing our inventory to cater to projects in Asia and Africa,” says Ryuichi. 16 PLANT / MACHINERY / VEHICLESwww.plantmachineryvehicles.comMARCH 2021 CRANES (ADVERTORIAL)UPCOMING DUBAI, UAE AUCTION 22nd March 2021 @ 9.00am PO Box 263536, Jebel Ali Free Zone | T: +971 4884 6880 www.euroauctions.com INTERESTED IN SELLING? The fi rst models of the new crane will be delivered around mid-2021, around the same time as the fi nal LR 1600/2 units will be delivered. As deliveries of the LR 1750/2 will also cease after almost 20 years of production, the LR 1700-1.0 will also assume its position below the 800 tonne LR 1800-1.0. The LR 1700-1.0 combines the benefi ts of economical transport of 600 tonne class crawler cranes with the performance of 750 tonne class lattice boom cranes. Liebherr has completely redesigned the base machine for the new LR 1700-1.0 based on the dimensions of the LR 1600/2. Its track width is slightly larger than its predecessor at 8.7 metres whilst the length of the crawler carriers has grown to 11.35 metres. The LR 1700-1.0 is available with ‘Quick Connection’ as an option. This means that the transport weight of the slewing platform (without the SA frame and winches) can be reduced to around 42 tonnes, well below the limit of 45 tonnes to ensure low cost heavy haulage. The same applies to the crawler carriers which, with their 2 metre crawler pads and 4-fold drive, weigh in at just 43 tonnes. Al the transport units for the base machine, including the pivot section, are no more than three metres in width. Only the powerful H lattice sections on the main boom are wider than this at 3.5 metres. However, these can be used to transport the smaller sections to reduce the number of transport vehicles required. For customers in countries where transport widths of over three metres are not possible, Liebherr can also supply the boom for the LR 1700- 1.0 exclusively with three metre wide lattice sections. A large number of equipment components from the predecessor crane can also be used for the new LR 1700-1.0. These include the S sections for the main boom, the luffi ng jib, the 600 t head, several winches, hook blocks, ballast slabs and the runner. The new base machine delivers between 10 and 15 percent more lifting capacity. Furthermore, the 3.5 metre H lattice sections at the bottom of the main boom signifi cantly improve the lateral stability of the entire system. The boom can be raised to a height of up to 198 metres, comprising the main boom at 102 LIEBHERR UNVEILS 700-TONNE SUCCESSOR TO THE LR 1600/2 CRAWLER CRANE metres and a luffi ng jib at 96 metres. These lattice sections enable the crane to be used in purely main boom mode with a length of up to 162 metres. For erecting wind turbines, the LR 1700-1.0 can achieve a maximum main boom length of 165 metres using additional H sections. A fi xed jib of up to 15 metres in length can be attached to this. The lifting capacities of the new crane in this area are on a par with the LR 1750/2 with SX system. A Liebherr six cylinder diesel engine which develops 400 kW / 544 bhp is used to power the LR 1700-1.0. The engine satisfi es the new stage V emissions directive and can also be confi gured to comply with regulations outside of Europe, for example Tier 4 for the USA or stage IIIA for low regulated countries. 18 PLANT / MACHINERY / VEHICLESwww.plantmachineryvehicles.comMARCH 2021 CRANESWWW.GOLDHOFER.COM THP/SL FAMILY UNBEATABLE COMBINABILITY THE VEHICLE AT A GLANCE » High bending moment and axle loads up to 45 t depending on legal and operational requirements » Pendular axles with proven ball-bearing race ring technology » Universal compatibility with all components of the SL family » The right member of the family for every operation » Biggest selling heavy-duty module worldwide Next >
