Our core strength is virtualised networking, security and visibility. Thanks to our solutions, customers gain the flexibility of private cloud virtualised infrastructure, with flexible sizing, functions, orchestration and pay- as-you-go consumption. Additionally, with Array’s reserved CPU, memory, SSL and physical interfaces per VM, customers enjoy better and guaranteed performance. We also ensure that we deliver the best-of- breed virtual appliances (Host Array application delivery virtual appliances) in collaboration with leading security vendors aligned with the latest technologies. Finally, we offer a streamlined path to NFV, allowing our customers to abstract complexity associated with virtual and physical port mapping, CPU pinning, NUMA boundary settings, SR- IOV and drivers. What are some of the trends impacting your sector? One of the biggest trends in the sector includes the integration of network and security function. Richard Stiennon, research director // COMPANY PROFILE / ARRAY NETWORKS // WWW.NETWORKMIDDLEEAST.COM /// 40 / NETWORK MIDDLE EAST / MARCH 2019 /Array Networks starts operations in the GCC region with office in Dubai ‘13Array Net- works joins the Open Platform for NFV project Avails virtual ADC on Azure and AWS marketplaces Array joins the Cisco Solution Partner Program Opens Bangalore technical assistance hub ‘14‘14‘15‘16 at Gartner believes that enterprises are moving towards an integrated network security platform approach, and that winning platforms will preserve customers’ requirement for best-of- breed technologies. Today, companies look for end-to-end solutions that can increase the network security and at the same time reduce operating costs associated with various devices. Array understands the demand for centralised policy management and offers a hyper-converged platform equipped with third-party solutions. For example, Web Vulnerability Scanner (WVS), Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Anti DDoS can all be integrated/embedded in an Arrays’ AVX platform giving customers’ one single platform to work with. Companies are also increasingly embracing deep visibility and analytics. With a deep understanding of the network, companies can make smarter and data-driven business decisions. Network analytics is not restricted to the overall system instead it provides real-time visibility (traffic) of the different network entities involved in the system. Discuss the latest solutions from your company and the impact you see in the market Array’s AVX Series Network Functions Platforms address the challenges of both VARs and MSPs through hyper- converged platforms that offer the agility of virtual appliances with the performance of dedicated appliances. Each platform supports multiple instances of Array or third-party networking and security functions. VARs can develop new best-of-breed security and networking packages to differentiate their offerings while consolidating multiple discreet appliances into just one or two rack units; end-customers benefit from reduced rack space, power, cooling and cabling requirements. In addition, the platform minimises the need for high-cost expertise, reduces hardware spend and eliminates hypervisor fees, resulting in CAPEX and OPEX savings. And finally, Array’s platform delivers guaranteed hardware- like performance via logical fast lanes and assigned resources. Designed with managed service providers and enterprises in mind, the AVX Series enables data centre consolidation without sacrificing the agility of cloud and virtualisation or the performance of dedicated appliances. Capable of assigning dedicated CPU, SSL, memory and interface resources per VA, the AVX Series network functions platform is the only solution to deliver guaranteed performance in shared environments. For managed service providers (MSPs) and others, it offers the combination of networking and security services to generate new revenues and reduce customer churn. What is your presence in the Middle East? Within a span of five years, we have rapidly grown and made our mark in the regional market. Today, with over 200 customers, we have a strong presence in all the GCC countries. We are growing at a positive rate of 28% YOY. Last year was a rewarding year for Array and we should exceed our revenue numbers. The significant growth is backed by deals in BFSI, government, telecom, education, healthcare, retail and enterprises. Describe some of your biggest successes in the region In GCC, most of our revenue comes from BFSI and retail customers. We have a lot of customers, who have replaced their existing vendors with Array in this region. Most of our customers have been with us for a long time and we believe that our alliances will continue to grow in future as well. Array’s ‘100% customer retention’ has been one of the highest in our segment and adds one more feather to our cap. What are your regional goals for the rest of the year and beyond? Our regional goals rely on two pillars: product growth and market expansion. From a product perspective, we will be focusing on increasing our product line. We will also add more third-party products to our platform, as we seek to better serve the Middle East customers. We collaborate with security vendors to help customers in consolidating multiple devices and solutions into a comprehensive one. For example, customers can have Web Vulnerability Scanner (WVS), Web Application Firewall (WAF) and Anti DDoS integrated/embedded in Arrays’ AVX platform. We follow a solution approach, i.e., delivering an end-to-end solution to our customers. This year, we will continue to focus on the UAE and GCC market, while seeking to penetrate the Africa market that is showing great potential. // COMPANY PROFILE / ARRAY NETWORKS // MARCH 2019 / NETWORK MIDDLE EAST / 41// WWW.NETWORKMIDDLEEAST.COM /Published and Copyright © 2019 ITP MEDIA GROUP FZ-LLC. As managing director for McAfee, Middle East & Turkey, I am focused on building and maintaining a team of skilled cyberse- curity industry specialists that can consult and guide companies in the region along their journey to improve their cybersecu- rity defences and posture. Ultimately, we want to ensure that secu- rity serves as a positive enabler in for our customers in achieving our their business objectives and outcomes. 2 What is the best thing about your job? I very much consider myself a ‘people per- son’ and so, no surprise, that my favourite part of the job is the people aspect. This is particularly true for my experience in the Middle East, given just how important hu- man relationships are. I consider myself lucky to, every day, meet a lot of great people from all walks of life. Even after 10 years in the region, I am still awestruck and excited about the richness of the cultural diversity of my colleagues, custom- ers and friends. The different backgrounds and viewpoints help me to continuously learn, which is my passion - and become a better human being overall. 3 How innovative do you think the network industry in the Middle East is and how can it improve? We have very capable service providers with good infrastructure, educated work- ers and an entrepreneurial spirit. Coupled with strong governmental backing for in- novation, the environment makes for some trailblazing projects across the region. 4 What are the upcoming trends or products in your sector? While many of the attack tactics like phishing, email and web vectors and old malware samples remain the go-to tools for many hackers, we continue to see a proliferation of the more recent phenom- enon of ransomware. As a case in point, according to the McAfee December 2018 Threats Report, new ransomware samples grew 10%, and total ransomware samples grew 45% over the last four quarters. 5 Does your company utilise virtuali- sation or cloud computing? The McAfee MVISION Cloud platform enables enterprises to adopt cloud services while securing both sanctioned and unsanctioned cloud services, protect sensitive data across the cloud and stop the most advanced threats. 6 What are your out-of- office hobbies? My personal love is rugby which I’ve been playing since I was four years old. Top 5 Favourite film? King Pin iOS or Android? iOS Favourite gadget? My iPhone Favourite band? Erasure Favourite book?
