The resort will open in 2024. 2 The LEED-Platinum property seeks to minimise its environmental and literal footprint by cantilevering the accommodation spaces above coral reefs with only a few square meters of ground impact at the base of the supporting column. 3The entire project is powered by a centralised solar farm while fresh water is supplied from a solar-powered desalination plant. Recycling of waste material takes place on the island minimising the need to bring or remove materials from the site. 4Its design reduces the overall visual impact of the architecture on the surrounding environment while improving the building’s energy effi ciency with its near-total solar gain refl ection at the mirror surface. These heavily insulated spaces can be effectively cooled with minimal energy losses. 5Designed by Dubai-based architectural fi rm Killa Design, the villas are being manufactured offsite by metal production specialist Grankraft Industries in Sharjah, UAE. Red Sea Global recently welcomed the fi rst batch of the modularly-constructed villas for its Sheybarah Resort.8 MEP Middle East | February 2023www.mepmiddleeast.com NOTEWORTHY Noteworthy Get the lowdown on MEP Middle East’s social media channels!
