Compared to 2019, the company increased the value of the total contracts awarded by 23% in 2020. Empower holds 76% of the district cooling market in the city of Dubai and has witnessed rapid growth in demand for district cooling services corresponding to the increase in the number of buildings and projects in the city. Empower has also awarded construction contracts worth $96.3mn (AED354mn) to build two new district cooling plants in Za’abeel and Business Bay, which will have a total capacity of 100,000 refrigeration tonnes (RT) upon completion. In addition, the company has awarded $69.4mn (AED255mn) contracts to expand the district cooling network in the Dubai Production City, Business Bay, Barsha Heights, Dubai Land Residence Complex, Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), and DIAC projects. The company expects that 2021 will witness the expansion of the pipeline network for district cooling services.
