Transferring in Abu Dhabi If you’re transferring fl ights in Abu Dhabi, you can look forward to a quick and smooth transfer. When you arrive, follow the transfer signs. You will need to complete a transfer screening before descending into our main departures area. A dedicated priority lane is available for The Residence, First and Business class guests and eligible Guest members. If you need help or require a boarding pass for your connecting fl ight, please speak to our team at the Transfer Services desk located just before the transfer screening area. Important information on connections to the US The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility in Abu Dhabi is temporarily only available for select fl ights to the US. If your fl ight departs from Gate F, your fl ight will be pre-cleared in Abu Dhabi. Guests are requested to head to Gate F from two hours before their fl ight, where a shuttle bus will transfer them to the CBP facility. The Residence, First and Business class guests will have access to our US Premium Lounge in Abu Dhabi. The lounge is available after clearing US immigration and customs. Guests on US fl ights departing from other gates will clear customs and border controls in the United States. To help you get the low-down, here are 10 things that you may not have known about the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX. 1. Faster, closer racing In 2021, to mark the new racing era, the track at Yas Marina Circuit was redesigned with the aim of increasing racing speed with a shorter, faster lap and more racing opportunities. The project began in June 2021 and was completed fi ve months later. Multiple Abu Dhabi race winner Max Verstappen holds the current fast lap record of 1 minute and 26.103 seconds around the revised 5.281km track’s 16 turns.. 2. The 2023 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the most sustainable ever The fi fteenth edition of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was the most sustainable to date. A new state-of-the-art track lighting system, introduced earlier in the year, resulted in a 28% reduction in the circuit’s annual carbon emissions. State-of-the-art safety The circuit’s operational nerve center, Race Control, underwent a tech upgrade in 2023, with all-new video monitoring software and terminals installed. The high-spec, fully customisable software allows the team to create and monitor camera layouts specifi c to the facility or circuit confi guration being used. The medical team can monitor track activity, helping them understand the mechanism of any accidents so they can prepare the appropriate level of treatment before the driver’s arrival. 5. So much more than a race… Aside from all the thrilling on-track action, fans enjoyed interactive games and eSports experiences, and various entertainment Zones, as well as the Yasalam After-Race Concerts presented by e& at Etihad Park. The concerts included four nights of world- class musical performances from pop singing powerhouse Ava Max, master of electronic dance music, Tiësto, R&B megastar Chris Brown, American country music diva, Shania Twain, and the 15-Grammy-winning legendary rockers, Foo Fighters.. 6. Old and new meet at Yas Marina Circuit As well as showcasing the incredible technology of 2023-era F1 cars on track, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix also hosted over 30 of the world’s most desirable collector cars, including classic F1 racecars and state-of-the-art supercars at Bonhams Cars’ ‘On The Grid’ auction. Mario Andretti’s 1978 John Player Special Lotus-Cosworth Type 79 and Kimi Räikkönen’s McLaren MP4/21 were among the historic machines for sale. 7. Even more ways to enjoy Due to the unprecedented demand for tickets, organisers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix introduced a new grandstand and hospitality package to accommodate the record crowd of over 140,000 race-goers across the weekend. In addition to the permanent fi ve grandstands, Ethara added two temporary stands at the North and West Straights, adding capacity for an extra 10,000 fans.. 8. A new way to celebrate Ethara has added more oomph to the F1 race winners’ ceremony by building a totally new podium. The revised trackside structure now extends over the circuit’s iconic start-fi nish line, enabling the winners of the Grand Prix to feel closer to fans and their pit crew, whilst giving the capacity crowd a better view of their heroes. 9. Speed, grace and beauty The design for the fi rst, second, third place and Constructors’ Championship trophies presented to winners were inspired by the “speed, grace and beauty” of the UAE’s national bird – the saqr falcon. ‘Saqr’ is both the Arabic word for falcon and one of the two main species used for hunting in the UAE. The trophies were designed by Richard Fox, a world- famous London-based silversmith behind more than 600 trophies in the sport. 10. The coolest cool-down room New for 2023, Yas Marina Circuit debuted a driver’s cool-down room with transparent walls – the only one in existence – allowing racegoers to watch the drivers’ post-race conversations.
