While the process of conceptualising, designing, building, and commissioning remains the same, the way that it is carried out has changed. This transformation came in the wake of technology adoption. Yes, the construction industry has traditionally been slow in its approach to technological advancements, but the pandemic taught us to embrace tech and welcome the new perspectives that it inevitably brings along with it. Similarly, a new perspective also de nes our 13th annual Power 100 ranking of the most in uential individuals currently shaping the Middle East and North Africa’s construction sector. Since its launch in 2010, the power list has become a celebration of individuals and leaders who are transforming the construction industry and leaving behind tales of success, achievements, and milestones. In 2022, we approached the Power 100 list differently. The individuals recognised within the list were selected based on the responses submitted to Construction Week Middle East and publicly available information. It is always challenging to decide the nal ranking! Following thorough research, the nal rankings were determined based on a set criteria. Turn to pg. 20 to learn more. Stakeholders are ranked against their peers in the industry. Hence, the list is divided into six sub-lists comprising contractors (who continue to dominate the list), developers, consultants, sub-contractors, designers & architects, and construction lawyers. The pandemic shifted people’s perspectives, prompting stakeholders across the sector to seek changes in their operations. As a result, improved strategies and methodologies to increase project delivery took the centre stage. The individuals that made it to the Power 100 in 2022 have embraced these changes and boast impressive achievements. With a redesigned and re ned Power 100 list, notable names including Yu Tao, Kez Taylor, Osama Bishai, Dr Najib Khatib, and Pedram Rad, among others, return, while new entries are welcomed this year. The list has evolved into a perfect home for industry leaders throughout the years, and it will continue to be so in the future. Signing off!
