Surf Abu Dhabi is the world’s most advanced wave pool, powered by Kelly Slater Wave Company technology and it’s already hosted the World Surf League Championship Tour. Head to Yas Marina Circuit to jog, cycle or take a leisurely walk at sunset. Walkers and runners are guided in a clockwise direction while cyclists go anti-clockwise. Abu Dhabi Cycling Club is offering free bikes to use during your training in adult and kids’ sizes. You can bring your own helmet or use a free one, just keep in mind there are limited helmets available. Rest assured, all equipment is sanitised between uses and if you ask us, this is a pretty nifty way to get squeeze in a fitness session after work. Spanning 130 acres in the heart of the Yas Acres community, it’s as pretty as a picture thanks to a low, meandering ridgeline that runs through the centre. Plus, a lake and stream system that flows through the course supports the growth of native desert plants and vegetation. Zayed Sports City If there’s a single destination that defines the sporting spirit of the city, it has to be Zayed Sports City. This all-in-one hub is home to more than 30 different facilities, from FIFA-certified football pitches to the International Tennis Centre, which has hosted the WTA 500 Abu Dhabi Open. Families can lace up at the Olympic-sized ice rink, hit the 40-lane bowling centre or even sign up for paintball sessions. I’ve got two kids, so it’s a pretty chaotic morning routine of getting them ready for school but my non-negotiable is going to the gym. It’s really important to train in the morning, it helps me prepare for the day. What’s your hot take when it comes to food? I’m a lover of all types of food. I don’t know if this is weird, but what drives me crazy is when restaurants use the wrong garnish, for example parsley on Asian food. Favourite budget restaurant and why? Ikea. So good and so cheap. Where do you like to go in the city if you’re splashing out? Saadiyat Beach Club is a favourite of mine, I usually have a sauna and ice bath before hitting the pool or beach to relax. Where do you llikikee ttototo If you’re craving an outdoorsy day, where do you go? I haven’t recently but I love to play golf. The green grass and water give me a feeling of being back home.
