From a professional standpoint, I am optimistic about the future projects to come, exploring new markets and starting a new venture too. On a personal level I am optimistic about having a greater work/life balance and exploring new creative hobbies that challenge and excite me. Ornella: With the recent development in the UAE and the wave of normalcy that Expo brought about, I am most optimistic about other countries following suit and easing up travel restrictions. The biggest fear I have would be a step backwards into what we experienced throughout the majority of 2020 and 2021 with the spread of a pandemic that would once again halt our personal and professional worlds. Reem: I recently came across a sentence that resonated,"I want to grow from my challenges and live fearlessly." In an ideal world, in 12 month's time I hope to be food tasting for a new F&B concept with my best friend and business partner, Ornella.January 2022commercialinteriordesign.com CoCoovever r rfefeeatataurure 31 January 2022commercialinteriordesign.com Cover feature 31 January 2022commercialinteriordesign.com Zahra Chowdhry Junior designer, Twentyone06 For 2022, professionally, I am optimistic about furthering my experience and knowledge of design by working on different design projects and creating spaces that are unique and unconventional. I also want to learn about the business side of interior design. This means not only working in the business but working on the business, understanding the creative industry from a whole new perspective. In addition, personally, I have always been interested in product design and perfumes, so I have been working on creating a collection of artisanal perfumes, with unique scents and working on launching it in 2022. Professionally, my challenges for 2022 will be working on future-proofi ng ideas and projects. As situations keep evolving, it is imperative to understand and translate what the audience wants to experience in commercial design, as the people and their mindset are transforming to new laterals. My personal challenges would be exploring the product and sales market. As I am working on launching a perfume collection, it is a new territory for me navigating through that. The new range Nebula is characterised by a central satin- fi nish silk-screen printing on the glass that fades both upwards and downwards, transmitting a feeling of freshness and airiness to the bathroom. Putting a window where people would really like one. Making sure a shaving mirror in a hotel bathroom is at the right angle. Making bureaucratic buildings that are somehow cheerful." Whether in commercial or residential projects, bathrooms are forever an intimate space that are becoming ever- more elegant, stylish spaces for personal wellbeing and self-care while still being able to incorporate the actions most of us start and end our day with. To bring personality and individual style to this space, in 2022 it seems there are an almost infi nite materials for fl ooring, toilets, wall cladding, cupboards, and more. But when it comes to choosing a colour scheme for the bathroom, a grey and white palette will forever stand the test of time, says Spanish materials specialist Cosentino. This perfect combination allows for a touch of colour to be added later in the form of accessories and furniture, with an enduring and impeccable base. Here are three Cosentino recommended design styles for hi-luxe grey and white bathrooms and how to achieve them: INDUSTRIAL STYLE An industrial-style grey and white bathroom will always have some features in black, for example, iron edging, taps or furniture, like a stool or armchair. Opt for a sober base colour on the walls and fl oor to lend visual continuity to the space. We adore the grey Kreta by Dekton Industrial style using Kreta and Calacatta Silestone Cleaning up for 2022 Three hi-luxe grey & white bathroom by Cosentino model and the white Calacatta Gold by Silestone, both of which lend themselves perfectly to this style. Other options for an industrial fi nish are micro-cement and hydraulic fl oor tiles. THE NORDIC STYLE Straight lines, natural beech wood and wall-hung toilet and washbasins reign in the very clean architectural style of Nordic bathrooms. To add further character to the space, we recommend elements like – for example - a banana plant in a natural fi bre pot and simple long mirrors for effortless style. The result will be an organic and balanced room. THE FAIL-SAFE MINIMALIST This style is perfect for updating bathrooms whilst keeping things simple. If you’re a fan of modern grey and white bathrooms with the latest technology and all the comforts, the minimalist trend is for you. Picture a stunning shower cubicle, a full- length heated towel rail, a wall-hung toilet with a concealed water tank for a seamless touch and a super sleek fi nish for the walls and fl ooring. This style is undeniably sober and functional: no vanity kits or bathtubs with legs for this stylish washroom.
