Circcu shark stool in 'Very Peri,' the Pantone colour of 2022 Some jokers on social media pointed out that 2022 sounds like "2020, too" – part two of a year that tested us all to the hilt. Obviously, we love some word play, but we also prefer to keep our predictions for this coming year with an accent of optimism. Accordingly, for January's cover feature, we asked the industry up-and-coming design stars – the Class of 2022 – to talk about their hopes and fears for the year. What else is bright about the next 12 months? Colour trend experts at Pantone have created a new shade that accurately captures the zeitgeist of 2022 and we've found the perfect products to incorporate 'Very Peri' into your upcoming projects. If this doesn't bring you cheer, then this issue we're also celebrating the design history of the humble LEGO brick and taking a fi rst look at an entertainment destination in Dubai where some of you might have celebrated New Year's Eve. With a new year comes a fresh start, and so our January special report focuses on bathroom design. We ask, hygiene and hi-luxe – what's key for bathroom projects in 2022? Noted suppliers Cosentino, duka, RAK Ceramics and AXOR all understood the assignment and shared with us their trend predictions and new products. From our Commercial Interior Design 'family' to yours, we wish you healthy, happiness and success for the year ahead. Published by and © 2022 ITP MEDIA GROUP FZ-LLC. Pantone Color Institute announced shade 17 – 3938 'Very Peri' as capturing the essence of what the next 12 months are going to look like, saying it represents courage and inspires personal inventiveness and creativity. The American-based Institute is the business unit that highlights the top seasonal runway colours, selects the Color of the Year, forecasts global colour trends, and advises companies on colour for product and brand visual identity. Its 2022 colour choice was informed by factors including the rise of Facebook's metaverse and digital artists. As per the announcement made on the company's website, Very Peri illustrates "how colour trends in the digital world are being manifested in the physical world and vice versa." Killa Design & Tristan Auer design new 'yacht' hotel Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab by Killa Design to open in 2023. The superyacht-inspired hotel in Dubai completes a trilogy alongside architectural icons, Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel. The 390-key hotel's shape takes inspiration from a superyacht and together, the trio show a wave-shape, a sailboat, and now a superyacht, indicative of the emirate's progression. French designer Tristan Auer, in association with Wilson Associates, has designed the interiors of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab with elevated four metre high ceilings in all rooms. The architect behind the design is Shaun Killa, who also created the city's stunning torus-shaped Museum of the Future. Killa said: "For the design of Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab we wanted something that surpassed expectations of what supreme luxury can mean for the affl uent traveller. With the new hotel's ergonomic superyacht design, I think we have achieved that goal." Very Peri is a delicous shade of periwinkle Marsa Al Arab will open next yearNext >
