Managing director Elie El Khoury tell us more: "In Carrat XXII we created the largest compositions from our AIRY collection. In Jumeirah simple components are inspired by nature different types of leaves, but with a twist where customer can adjust the colours and coating according to their taste and interior. These lighting trends we've share are all a response to our current lifestyle. We, as consumer, want modern technologies to amplify the benefits of what can be done with light. But most importantly we want to create a place where we feel safe, and at home and somewhere it is easy for us to live." HOME IS … Home is where we feel safe and good, and this will never change. No trend will ever disrupt this. Trends reflect our lifestyles, and as our lifestyles evolve we discover new ways and needs to improve our quality of life. We use technology all the time: to measure our sleep, to count our steps; we order online food and use apps to buy pretty much everything we want to buy – technology is everywhere and it aims to make our life easier. The way we live defines trends in Glass shaped like leaves Where is home? Elie El Khoury, managing director Middle East of architectural lighting specialists Sans Souci, on creating unique pieces for private residences residential design. Residential design represents the way we want to rest and spend our leisure time with our friends and family. Lighting is another trend which can also make our life easier and better, and in Sans Souci's case it also features the latest technologies and incorporates them into our day-to-day routines, making them smoother and calmer. KEY TRENDS Key trends for 2022 are focused on wellness and wellbeing to improve the quality of life. Escalated by the global pandemic, health and fitness are dominating the industry debates, alongside sustainability and environmentalism. There is a greater demand for sustainable Inside the Jumeirah Island villaSpecial Report 61 December 2021commercialinteriordesign.com Y RESIDENTIAL VILLAS Enter the Dragon here solutions, a greater demand for organic design and nature-inspired collections. We work with the various times for light, one to wake you up, one to calm you down before you go to bed. We work with technologies to make it easy to control light by your voice, for example. Another timeless trend is Arabia – traditional Middle Eastern aesthetics which are defined by culture, heritage and local environment. Warm colours and that sense of Arabic luxury still influences the overall feel of interior design in the region. AWAKEN THE SENSES At Sans Souci, we work to create a home where you can regain your energy. A place where you feel yourself and happy, and where each interior design features play its part in this. This is particularly the case with chandeliers and light. People increasingly want to be surrounded by visually appealing items, and light is what creates an ambience and underlines it. We have this in mind when designing chandeliers. Trends such as sustainability and wellbeing bring inspiration from nature into interior design. NATURAL ELEMENTS For us, in the glass industry, we work with natural elements such as feathers, different types of leaves, flowers or icy effects. To create glass components inspired by nature in the specific shape of a leaf or a feather takes craft and knowledge. Each piece is original. To elevate the design and lean on the influence of the Middle Eastern culture, we use modern technologies to achieve perfect colours. Nano-coating is our specialty, as it creates beautiful gold and warm effects. Some of the seaside villa projects engage simpler colours inspired by the ocean, and the design of the composition light and clean. BESPOKE CHANDELIERS Gold as a statement of luxury remains in this region, but the shape and concept of a chandelier has changed – people like alternatives to what we know as the Art Deco chandeliers. Once our home is beautiful, we also want it comfortable and practical and easy to use. This can be achieved through links to smart technologies when we incorporate the smart systems into each chandelier. This allows them to be turned on and off simply by using your voice or your phone. Dimming and special effects are also easy to set, and it is such a common request from our customers that it's becoming a regular part of our services. This city café is based in one of the most active neighbourhoods in Kyiv in the Ukraine and specialiSes in high-quality coffee to go, served in a setting that enjoys its own soft rhythm and an urban vibe. The pixel The design focus is the mosaic pixel art on the wall that incorporates the dot as a pixel theme, with the pixel as the starting point of every image. Interestingly, designers YOD Group deliberately chose not to convey any hidden message in this picture, but create something they call "weird, sincere and universal." The graphic in DOT is pure emotion, they add, like a facepalm, but stronger, which would make a city dweller seek out a good coffee to recover and go forward at full speed. The screen The second accent in the interior is a narrow screen with scrolling text. It creates the dynamics and sets the rhythm, like the quick step of customers who just swigged a double espresso. "The owners of DOT Coffee Station are experienced entrepreneurs who already have a successful chain of cafes in Kyiv. They are deeply aware of the business- specifi c and appreciate the high quality of coffee more than anything else. Our shared value is a sustainable approach. Etihad Museum was designed by Moriyama & Teshima Architects in the shape of a manuscript to signify the signing of the UAE constitution, with seven columns built into the museum to resemble the pens used to sign the original declaration. The building has eight permanent pavilions where visitors can learn more about the formation of the union consisting of Abu Dhabi (where the federal capital is located), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, Sharjah and Umm Al Quwai. Spread over an area of 25,000 square metres, the footprint of the museum encompasses the Union house, the location where the emirate's founding fathers signed a declaration that marked the formation of the UAE in 1971. As well as being part of the museum complex, it also supplies its name, with Etihad coming from the Arabic for 'union.' Its location is marked by a huge UAE fl ag atop the 123-metre golden pole on Jumeirah Beach Road - particularly apt as the country marks its 50th or Golden Jubilee in December 2021. Speaking about the project, which Etihad Museum As the UAE marks its Golden Jubilee, we look at the architecture of the place where it all began The museum resembles a huge document opened to the public in 2017, Canadian fi rm Moriyama and Teshima Architects says: "The travertine plaza seamlessly migrates into the pavilion, where space fl ows across terraced viewing platforms and through the delicate latticework of bronze Jali screens. Lightwells of varying shapes and sizes illuminate the expansive underground spaces, which in turn lead to the circular Union House, the location of the signing ceremony, and the re-created Guest House where the leaders of the seven emirates resided during negotiations.
